Educating the Heart
At Podar GPS School, we believe that academic success is inextricably linked to emotional well-being. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process through which children acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
We do not just teach subjects; we teach students how to be resilient, compassionate, and self-aware individuals prepared for the challenges of the real world.
The 5 Core Competencies
Our SEL curriculum is built upon the globally recognized CASEL framework.
Self-Awareness
Recognizing one's own emotions, strengths, and limitations. Building a strong sense of confidence and purpose.
Self-Management
Effectively managing stress, controlling impulses, and motivating oneself to set and achieve goals.
Social Awareness
Understanding the perspectives of others and empathizing with them, including those from diverse backgrounds.
Relationship Skills
Communicating clearly, listening well, cooperating with others, and negotiating conflict constructively.
Responsible Decision-Making
Making constructive choices about personal behavior and social interactions based on ethical standards.
SEL In The Classroom
We integrate SEL into the daily fabric of school life through specific activities and practices.
-
Morning Circles
A daily routine where students share feelings and set intentions for the day.
-
Gratitude Journals
Students regularly write about things they are thankful for, fostering positivity.
-
Role-Playing
Scenarios to practice conflict resolution and empathy in a safe environment.
-
Peer Mentoring
Older students guide younger ones, building leadership and community.
Student Support
We have a dedicated Student Wellness Center staffed by a professional school counselor. The center provides a safe, confidential space for students to discuss academic pressures, social issues, or personal challenges.
"An emotionally healthy child is a successful learner. Our goal is to ensure that every student feels heard, valued, and safe within the school environment."
